  • 3-step maximum for task creation workflow
  • Accessibility-first approach (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance)

Component Architecture (architect/02-design/)

✅ Single Page Application — React or Vue.js framework
✅ Responsive Design — Desktop-first with mobile optimization
✅ REST API Integration — JSON communication with backend

Browser Support Matrix

  • Chrome 90+ (primary development target)
  • Firefox 88+ (secondary testing)
  • Safari 14+ (macOS/iOS testing)
  • Edge 90+ (Windows testing)

JavaScript Requirements:

  • ES2020+ features acceptable
  • No IE11 support required
  • Modern async/await patterns preferred

User Experience Requirements

Success Metrics (Must Validate)

  • Task creation completes in ≤3 steps
  • All assigned tasks visible without scrolling on 1440px desktop
  • Form validation provides clear, actionable error messages
  • Mobile touch targets meet accessibility guidelines (44px minimum)

Accessibility Compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA)

  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactions accessible via keyboard
  • Screen Reader Support: Proper ARIA labels and landmarks
  • Color Contrast: 4.5:1 minimum ratio for normal text
  • Focus Management: Visible focus indicators for all interactive elements

Testing Requirements:

  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing (NVDA or VoiceOver)
  • Color contrast validation tools
  • Browser zoom testing up to 200%

Error State Handling

Required Error Scenarios:

  • Network connection lost during task creation
  • Invalid form data submission
  • Unauthorized access attempts
  • Task assignment to non-existent user
  • Blocked task status explanations

Error Message Principles:

  • Clear, jargon-free language
  • Specific guidance for resolution
  • Non-blocking notifications where possible
  • Consistent styling and placement

Development Setup Requirements

Environment Configuration

Validation and Testing Strategy

Development Phase Testing (Week 2-3)

  1. Component Unit Tests — Isolated component behavior
  2. Form Validation Tests — All input scenarios and error states
  3. Responsive Layout Tests — Desktop and mobile breakpoints
  4. Accessibility Tests — Automated axe-core scanning

Integration Phase Testing (Week 4)

  1. API Integration Tests — Real backend communication
  2. End-to-End Scenarios — Complete user workflows
  3. Cross-Browser Testing — All supported browsers
  4. Performance Testing — Initial page load and interaction responsiveness

Acceptance Criteria

  • All mockups implemented with ≤5px design variance
  • All API endpoints integrated with proper error handling
  • All accessibility requirements verified
  • All browsers render consistently
  • Performance budget met (3s initial load, 1s interactions)

Handoff to Backend Team

Frontend Completion Deliverables:

  • Production-ready SPA build artifacts
  • API specification with actual usage patterns
  • Authentication flow requirements
  • Database schema requirements based on actual UI needs
  • Performance and security testing results

Backend Interface Contract:
